Resume Writing Tips

It is crucial that for every professional resume you need to start off with your personal details first and foremost. The following details are necessary that should be mentioned at the start of your resume-

  • Full Name of the Applicant
  • Residence Address of the Applicant
  • Age of the Applicant
  • Contact number
  • E-mail id

After the basics have been handled, go ahead and write down your basic objective in regards to your career (not more than two sentences).

Next, start mentioning your previous work experience in brief. Basically, each description should be containing the following points–

  • The capacity in which you served the company as
  • The amount of time you spent in service of the company
  • The highest amount of salary that you earned at said company
  • Promotions (if any)
  • Achievements and awards earned at the company (if any)

Note that while listing down your previous work experiences, make it a point to begin with the work experience which is the most relevant to your job or the one which is related to the company commanding the most esteem and regard in the corporate world. Using these two factors, go in descending order and finish your work experience section of the resume with the job with the least amount of relevance to the job at hand or the job at a relatively new/unknown agency, or the job with the lowest pay.

For students/ freshmen

Professional Resume WritingYou may list down any internships or part time jobs you have done during the tenure of your studies. If you have no such experience, then skip the work experience portion of your resume completely and go to the next section, which is-

The highest degree of education should be mentioned first (along with marks of a graduating examination, if any) and year of graduation. Go backwards until you reach your junior high graduation (at which point you may stop).

Mention any achievements and prizes you have obtained during your school years, along with the year you achieved said accolade.
The remaining sections of the resume are:-

Job related knowledge, if any
Traits and skills relevant to the job
Language proficiency skills
